The “Adopt Your Neighbor” campaign has been developed by a group of organizations including the Loup Basin Public Health Department, Two Rivers Public Health Department, Red Cross, Area Agency on Aging, Region III Behavioral Health Services and Emergency Management, to help Americans be prepared for any type of disaster.

There are a few simple steps that you can do to be part of this campaign:

  1. Identify a neighbor or someone in your community who may need help in a disaster and visit with them about the idea of assisting them in preparing.
  2. Request preparedness information that will assist in the preparedness effort from the list of websites below.
  3. Prepare an emergency kit.
  4. Assist your neighbor in copying necessary personal documents to place in their emergency kit.
  5. Develop an evacuation and emergency plan together so you can meet up if needed.  Make sure they share these documents with their family.
  6. Discuss signals for letting each other know you are okay after any disaster.
